Welcome to Social Media in the Classroom!

This blog was developed in a training provided by the Sunset Park Alliance.

Question:
What is one thing you will take away from this training?

3 comments:

  1. a starting concept of how social media can be used. For ex., some specific goals (digital literacy, creating digital classroom culture), scaffolding media use, and possible lesson components (discussion forums, integrating web searches & posting media, online reflections).

I'm also really struck that life skill classes would really benefit from focusing on technology literacy, finding info online, and professionalizing students' online presence/email.

I'm leaning towards trying out Ning in the classroom, it seems to hold the most possibilities for integrating into my curriculum & lessons..

thanks for the training!! very good mix of discussing ideas & hands-on exploring.

  2. Hmmm, how to choose just one?

Since I don't have a classroom per se, I'd like to extrapolate this idea as use it for staff development. I'd like to be able to use a blog as a means for teachers to share lesson plans and problem solve. I'd also like to investigate Ning as a possible forum as well.
Thanks for a great training Emily!
